Director, Free-Standing Emergency Services

Summary
Leads operations and growth of a free-standing Emergency Department to deliver consistent, high-quality patient care. Oversees clinical services and key ancillary areas (Imaging, Lab, Admitting, Security, Environmental Services, Support Services). Manages people, resources, performance, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify and resolve service issues; communicate actions and outcomes.
• Advance patient experience and service excellence in the ED.
• Lead, coach, and evaluate leaders/staff; build engagement and succession pipelines.
• Set and enforce ED standards of care; measure and ensure consistent compliance.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate emergency services programs aligned to hospital mission.
• Monitor regulatory, accreditation, policy, and safety compliance (including exposure control plans).
• Direct continuous performance improvement across quality, safety, throughput, and cost.
• Represent the department on hospital/committee work; maintain clear, timely communication.
• Build effective cross-functional relationships to achieve departmental and organizational goals.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) required; Master’s in Nursing, Business, Healthcare Administration, or related field preferred.
• 3+ years emergency services experience required.
• 3+ years leadership experience preferred.
• Active state RN license required.
• ACLS, PALS or ENPC, and BLS required.
