    Job Summary:

    As a Level Two Machinist/Operator, you will work under direct supervision to operate 2-5 axis CNC and automated mill and lathe machines, focusing on producing complex aerospace parts. Your role includes loading and unloading parts, conducting in-process inspections, and performing basic deburring and preventive maintenance tasks. You will be responsible for ensuring product quality through basic shop math, use of hand measuring tools, and maintaining machine cleanliness and functionality.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Receive job assignments from the supervisor or manager.
    • Follow plant safety guidelines and cardinal safety rules.
    • Ensure compliance with quality specifications through in-process inspections.
    • Load and unload products and fixtures on CNC machines.
    • Perform machining operations according to drawings and written instructions.
    • Use basic math skills to measure and record dimensional items accurately.
    • Ensure part quality by using standard and customer measuring equipment for dimensional checks.
    • Conduct visual inspections of machine parts.
    • Pass or fail parts based on Quality Management System (QMS) standards.
    • Report nonconforming parts to the shift lead, supervisor, or engineering.
    • Perform daily preventive maintenance checks, including monitoring oil levels and coolant concentration, and report any machine issues.
    • Maintain a clean and organized work area following 6S standards.
    • Ensure continuity between work shifts through verbal or documented communication regarding required actions and irregularities.
    • Communicate with manufacturing teams about first piece acceptance and process stoppages due to part failures.
    • Perform other tasks as assigned by the supervisor or manager.

    Required Qualifications:

    • Basic English skills with the ability to read, follow, and interpret work instructions and planning documents.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
    • Ability to communicate professionally and work cooperatively with others.
    • Must pass customer-required testing and meet machining specifications as needed.
    • Ability to follow both verbal and written instructions and translating them into action.
    • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage a high volume of work with deadlines.
    • Basic math skills
    • High school diploma or GED required; CNC operator/machinist certification preferred. A degree in Machine Tool Technology is a plus.
    • 2 to 4 years of experience operating CNC mills or lathes, prior military experience, or technical certification/degree preferred.
